Johnny Devenanzio Left 'Gauntlet III' with "Dignity Intact"

Johnny "Bananas" DevenanzioJohnny "Bananas" Devenanzio was the latest cast member cut from Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Gauntlet III, and although he had planned to stay in the competition for a longer period of time, he says his “premature” exit allowed him to leave the show a dignified person.

“Although my departure was much more premature than I had originally planned, it was the only path I could take that would allow me to leave with my dignity intact,” Devenanzio wrote on his iamonmtv personality blog.  “I have my own set of rules that define the integrity and credibility of who I am and how I compete, and these were qualities this Veteran squad didn't seem to possess.  After sitting through the nauseating final deliberation, and watching team mates, friends, and supposed allies fold like spineless cowards, I knew that my time here had expired.”

On Gauntlet III, Johnny Devenanzio was part of the “veterans” team, and had formed an alliance with Evan Starkman and Kenny Santucci.  Devenanzio claims that his team had been going the wrong direction since the competition started, and that many of his teammates were more concerned with what they could gain personally rather than what would be best for the team.

“From day one it was clear that there was a power surge taking place on the Veteran squad which was carrying our teams focus in the wrong direction,” he said.  “We were being lead by a couple of misguided meatheads who let their own personal agendas come before the well being of the team.  Strategy took a back seat to size, resulting in an unbalanced Veteran squad whose primary focus was brawn and no brain.  And sadly the rest of the team, being the mindless retards they were got caught hook, line and sinker.”

Devenanzio also didn’t spare Evan from his tirade, especially since his supposed ally was among those who threw him in the gauntlet.

“What was surprising to see was how Evan, who was supposedly part of an alliance with Kenny and myself, agreed to have me thrown in.  So not only did Evan remove me from the game, he removed any shred of doubt in my mind that Canadians actually do have balls,” he said.

MTV also received a special mention in Johnny Devenanzio’s blog entry.  The ousted Gauntlet III contestant said that the network “failed to show in the episodes” leading up to his final challenge that he had injured his ankle.

“While this injury was painful and somewhat limited my mobility, it didn’t effect my overall performance, and even on a bad ankle I still possessed more speed and agility then almost my entire team,” he said.  “Unfortunately the majority of the games in the gauntlet as you will see rely heavily on the legs, putting me at a clear disadvantage.”

After having aired out his grievances, Devenanzio said that he intends to keep participating in the show, albeit from the point-of-view of the audience.

“The Gauntlet III hasn’t seen the last of Johnny Bananas, or at least his predictions!” he quipped.

Are you glad that Johnny is out of Gauntlet III?
No way! He was my favorite!
Yep, he didn't deserve to stay in the competition.
