Real Chance of Love: Some Sort of Guilty Pleasure
Is it just me, or am I getting a laugh from Real Chance of Love for the wrong reasons?  There are loads of dating shows on VH1, and for some reason, this has stood out.  It's partly because I somehow root for both Real and Chance to finally get the ones they're looking for—I'm a closet romantic, after all.  It's also partly because I think the girls are just, well, ridiculous to say the least.

What else, however, do you expect from a reality show like this? In last week's episode, “Who Wants To Be A Stallionaire?”, the brothers begin to test the remaining girls in whether they can keep up with the day-to-day basics of running the family farm.  To be specific, the girls were paired up to clean up parts of the barn, and along the way, deal with the animals running free or otherwise.  It's the perfect time for us to discover how these girls are with animals—or learning what they are, for that matter.

K.O. asks “is this a geese?” while chasing after a chicken, barely realizing that she should be asking something like, “is this a goose?” or “are these geese?”

Meatball begs, “I need sheeps,” while holding the only llama in the farm, barely realizing that she should be saying something like “I need sheep”.  And sheep aren't that big, or at the very least , have that long a neck!

At the risk of sounding very bad, that's what makes me laugh about the show. Sure, I can't live with the usual elements of such reality shows: fighting between the girls (KiKi insulting Lusty's deceased mother), more fighting between the girls (is Cali an “industry girl”?) and the opportunity to be a bit sexy.  However, Real Chance of Love is proving to be a guilty pleasure precisely because of that—their seeming cluelessness, and everything else that it brings.  And who can blame me?

Lusty was eliminated last week, with Chance fearing that she could actually kill her boyfriend like she (apparently jokingly) claimed.  This week, somebody else goes home, and in tonight's episode, entitled “Great Balls of Fire!”, things are going to be a bit weird.  One of Chance's girls earns the attention of Real (again), and another of his girls cook up meatballs and causes some actual indigestion.  Real Chance of Love returns tonight from 9pm on VH1.
