The
Pussycat Dolls, burlesque ensemble and main focus of the reality show
Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll, has yet another cause to participate in. After joining the Live Earth charity concert series to raise awareness on global warming, the girls are now set to perform at Fashion Rocks.
Aimed to help launch the New York Fall Fashion Week, the fourth annual event will take place on Thursday, September 6 at the Radio City Music Hall. Aside from the
Pussycat Dolls, other major acts booked for the concert include Beyoncé, The Black Eyed Peas, and Nelly Furtado just to name a few.
"The synergy between fashion and music is even more pronounced now than it was when we first created Fashion Rocks three years ago," Richard D. Beckman, president of event producer Conde Nast Media Group, said in a statement.
"Each year, the line between the two becomes increasingly blurred as more musicians launch fashion lines and more designers align themselves with musicians. Fashion Rocks 2007 will feature outstanding performers from both worlds who span the spectrum of musical genres and fashion styles and bring to life that special relationship," Beckman added.
The event will be hosted by actor
Jeremy Piven, known for his role as Ari Gold on the HBO series
Entourage, and will air as a two-hour special on the CBS network on Friday, September 7 at 9pm ET/PT.
Proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which supports modern AIDS prevention education programs and direct care services to people living with AIDS.
Meanwhile, the
Pussycat Dolls are currently working their second album entitled
Double the Trouble, which will be released later this year.
