While the Pussycat Dolls and their reality program Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for a New Doll have been the target of both parental protests and warnings from researchers about the possible effect on young women’s self-image, the fact remains that the band and the program are wildly popular with young people.

Now that popularity is being recognized with a nomination for the 2007 Fox Teen Choice Awards in the “Choice TV: Reality/Variety Show.”

Pussycat Dolls Presents is up against some heavy-hitters like American Idol, America’s Next Top Model, Dancing with the Stars and The Hills. It’s the lone nomination for the show; none of the featured contestants made it to the list of Choice TV: Female Reality/Variety Star, although some of the women from the competing shows did.

Jaslene Gonzalez (America’s Next Top Model), Jordin Sparks (American Idol) and Lauren Conrad (The Hills) all made that list, They are joined by Paris Hilton for her work – if you can call it that – on The Simple Life. The list is rounded out with Tiffany Pollard, aka New York, from I Love New York, another slightly surprising show to make it to the list of Teen’s Choice.

The nod for The Simple Life was not Paris Hilton’s only appearance on the list. She also made the Choice OMG! Moment due to her revolving door jail trip.

The famous surfboard Teen Choice Award has been handed out to fan favorites in a wide array of categories every year since 1999. Teen fans of Pussycat Dolls Presents, or any of the other shows and celebrities can place their votes for their favorites on Fox’s website.

Justin Timberlake is the host for this year, and is also the person who has so far received the most awards: 18 total, with 12 coming from his time with ‘N Sync. The awards will be handed out in a live telecast on August 26, from 8pm to 10pm on Fox.
