Alexis Pelekanos was one of the 15 young women competing on the Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious for one of the slots open for the pop girl group.  However, she was eliminated on the competitive series by third episode for “not standing out enough.”  Nevertheless, she lingers on the spotlight as this month's Miss Howard TV for Howard Stern's Howard TV On Demand.

“He was so nice to me and [said] that it was nice to have a change of pace with someone who had beauty and brains,” Alexis said of Howard Stern.

A Murrysville native, Alexis Pelekanos has been enthusiastic about her passion for music.  In fact, this is one of the reasons why she joined the Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious.  But unlike other contestants who got axed on the show, Alexis didn't really feel bad about not ending up as one of the members of Girlicious.

“It didn't break my heart.  I went on the show for publicity and as a learning and growing experience. It really opened doors for me, and to make it as far as I did and to have a totally different sound was great,” she told pittsburghlive.com.

For now, Alexis is studying dentistry at the University of Southern California while finding time to dance, sing and write pop-country music. And now that she's determined to give her music career a jumpstart, she's more focused on working on some new material.

“I'm going to be back in the recording studio next week, and, hopefully, we'll get a new sound out of me,” she said.

“It's really hard.  I put entertainment on the back burner for a little bit because it's very demanding. Now I'm trying to do both at full speed,” she added.  “Music is my passion, but I have a great opportunity with dentistry.  I'm too smart to throw that away.”
