Thousands of music lovers gathered at the ninth annual Xclamation Festival this weekend, which was deemed a sold out event.  Girlicious, the American pop all girl group formed by Robin Antin on the reality series Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious, was among the 50 bands that rocked the nigh away and gave its fans a gig worth falling in line for.

Eager to get good spots to see the group Girlicious, which consists of Nichole Cordova, Tiffanie Anderson, Chrystina Sayers and Natalie Mejia, some fans arrived several hours earlier than the scheduled opening at 5pm and were luckily enough to go straight to the Car Audio Outlaws Stage, where Girlicious was set to play.

"This is the best lineup in all the years I've attended," Modesto's Jennifer Trayer, a seven-year X-Fest veteran, said.

Of course, Girlicious wasn't the only group that the massive crowd came to see as the event also featured numerous alternative rock, hard rock, heavy metal, grunge, and industrial rock bands.

The Xclamation Festival, for those who are not familiar, is an affair that takes place on the streets of downtown Modesto, usually on the third Saturday of July.  The event, which started in 2000 and organized by Chris Ricci Presents, Inc., is described to have a Mardi Gras atmosphere, with concert performances that go into the late evening hours.

The festival has been a source of controversy at times through its existence.  Compared to last year's event where 32 people were arrested, however, this year's X-Fest was deemed more peaceful as there were no major problems that transpired.  This weekend, police arrested about 25 people in connection with minor offenses, such as alcohol-induced fights that didn't get far. Most arrests, on the other hand, were alcohol-related.

According to the police, the music, booze and crowds came to a peaceful end in the wee hours Sunday.
