I've run out of things to say about
Pushing Daisies. Though, at this point it doesn't matter. Those of you who love
Pushing Daisies have kept loving it, the promise of the incredible pilot continuing on into subsequent episodes.
Pushing Daisies detractors still baffle all of us fans, but the ship has sailed and if you're not on it, fine, more room for the rest of us. Wednesday is Halloween and the
Pushing Daises crew had the foresight to bring us a special Halloween episode (although, really, any episode of
Pushing Daisies could conceivably be a Halloween episode) that involves a heap of dead jockeys. Works for me.
Brief spoiler warning applies. If you want to go in to Wednesday's episode fresh, please read no further. Here's what the great Isabelle from SpoilerFix conjured up regarding Wednesday's episode, entitled “Girth”.
Episode 1.05 - Girth [Airing October 31]: A jockey dies and Olive convinces Ned and Emerson to bring him back to life and find out who killed him. The temporarily un-dead man tells them a man named John Joseph Jacob killed him but claims that John Joseph Jacob died seven years ago, so it had to have been his ghost. Olive's confession about her past occupation surprises them all, and she claims the ghost has come back to get revenge on a group of jockeys that killed him years before. Chuck is decorating Pie Hole for Halloween and she and Olive argue over whether or not Ned hates the holiday.
The writers continue to find creative ways of bringing Olive Snook into each episode's main story. I wonder whether this will be a theme, or if this is temporary until she becomes a full-fledged member of the investigative team. I wouldn't be opposed to keeping Olive out of the loop for at least this first season, deploying her as a vessel for interesting and quirky side stories. Here's a brief preview of the episode. Trampled jockeys is always a good plot point, isn't it?
