Pushing Daisies hits us up with episode number four on Wednesday, and I keep waiting for Bryan Fuller's glorious new series to disappoint me. We've beaten the “Can
Pushing Daisies keep this up?” angle into the ground, so I'll save you any more thoughts on that front. But, I will say that
Daisies is looking like a winner no matter how you slice it. The sustainability can only become an issue if a dud of an episode airs, something that has yet to happen. Wednesday's episode is entitled “Pigeon,” and we can be fairly certain that it will involve at least one pigeon. Below you will find a nice little YouTube preview of the episode.
Nothing like a good prison graveyard conversation. Never have I witnessed a TV show that treats such dark subject matter so lightly. It works, but I have no idea how. I know everyone is all ga-ga over Ned and Chuck. As well they should be. Chuck is pretty freaking adorable. But, for my money, Emerson Cod just brings it every episode. I have a soft spot for Chi McBride anyway, mostly thanks to his under appreciated work in Undercover Brother, but Chi's work as Emerson is hysterical. The writing makes it easy, but if that man doesn't get a Supporting Actor Emmy nod next year, it'll be a travesty.
Anyway, the plot summary for “Pigeon” goes a little something like this: Ned, Chuck and Emerson take on a case after a man flies a plane into an apartment building. Chuck is attracted to the lone survivor, and Ned isn't all too happy about it. Olive takes a wounded messenger pigeon to Chuck's aunts. Why, I have no idea. I do like that Olive and the aunts are becoming friends. Olive needs to be involved more prominently, and this is one way to do it. I do believe that she'll eventually become involved in the murder investigations, but Olive and the aunts is good for now.
