Pushing Daisies: Episode 1.3, "The Fun in Funeral" Preview
Pushing Daisies: Episode 1.3, "The Fun in Funeral" Preview
Two more days and we'll have another answer in what should be a constant question on Wednesdays for the foreseeable future: Can Pushing Daisies keep it up?  Will the magical whimsy continue?  Will Daisies manage to keep walking the tightrope of cute but not-too-cute, dark but not-too-dark?  Bryan Fuller and crew have given us two great hour of TV and, if the sneak peek that ABC has released of episode three is any indication, things continue to look good.  “The Fun in Funeral” airs on Wednesday and sees Ned, Chuck and Emerson return to the Couers d'Couers funeral home where Chuck was brought back to life by Ned.  Here's a sneak preview from one of Wednesday's scenes:

Chuck, in Wednesday's episode, apparently learns the consequences of her revival – the death of someone in the near proximity.  That might be a tough pill to swallow.  The above scene is not plot-centric at all, but it's fun.  Anytime a prime time TV show can toss in a Winnie the Pooh reference, I'm for it.

In other Pushing Daisies news, it looks like Paul Reubens has been re-cast.  He was originally supposed to play the part of Alfonso Aldarisio, a traveling homeopathic anti-depressant salesman, but now it looks like Broadway veteran Raul Esparza will inhabit the role of Alfonso.  Ruebens will now play the character of Oscar Vibenius, a one-time professional smeller.

I love that a TV show exists where a traveling anti-depressant salesman and an olfactory expert can exist and it makes sense.  The world that Pushing Daisies is creating is unlike any we've ever seen on prime time TV.  But, as many a skeptic has stated, it will be hard for Pushing Daisies to keep this pace up for an entire season.
