punkd-news-2.jpgAshton Kutcher’s show, Punk’d, may be coming to an end soon but it doesn’t mean it’s the end for this 29-year old prankster actor. In fact, he will be venturing on a new show entitled The Real Wedding Crashers, together with Punk’d creators Jason Goldberg and Karey Burke.

While Punk’d features celebrities victimized by prankster antics, The Real Wedding Crashers features hidden cameras that will record improvisational actors who go undercover at actual weddings to incorporate humor and surprise to the conventional ceremony. Based on the movie The Wedding Crashers that featured actors Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as philanderers who crashed weddings in order for them to hit on female guests, The Real Wedding Crashers will also be produced by New Line Television and Katalyst Films and will be broadcast on NBC.

Goldberg, co-producer of Punk’d, describes the upcoming show. He said, “The idea behind the show is let's do something a little bit different. The bride and groom put together, with our wedding crashers, a night that they'll remember for the rest of their lives.”

Craig Plestis, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials of NBC Entertainment also expressed his sentiments on the new venture. He said, "Everyone loved 'Wedding Crashers' and we wanted to see if we could capture that same kind of inspired frivolity in a real-life series. Working with Ashton and knowing his memorable experiences with the jokes he pulled off on 'Punk'd' made it much more enticing…This series has a big upside potential for hidden-camera humor."

Even though the weddings on The Real Wedding Crashers will be entirely planned and financed by the producers of the show, Goldberg got astounded at how many couples were fascinated with the idea of turning their wedding day into an entertainment feature. In fact, 25,000 couples already responded to ads placed by the producers of the show.
