Sci Fi and USA networks welcome the New Year with new episodes of their signature series. According to The Futon Critic, which has exclusively confirmed the networks' plans, Monk
will resume their current seasons on Friday, January 9 at 9/8c and 10/9c, respectively.
, which stars James Roday
a young crime consultant for the Santa Barbara, California Police Department whose "heightened observational skills" him to convince people that he is psychic, has recently been renewed by the USA network for a fourth season after a record-breaking summer. Monk,
on the other hand, is presently on its seventh season and has just reached the 100th episode milestone before the show went into a summer season hiatus.
In addition to Psych
the USA network has also announced that Burn Notice
will be rejoining its slate on Thursday, January 22 at 10/9c. The show last aired on September 18 for its summer season finale and just like Psych,
the spy drama has been picked up for a third season consisting of 16 episodes.
As for Sci Fi, the network has scheduled the return of Ghost Hunters International
with new episodes on Wednesdays beginning January 7 at 9/8c. Subsequently, Stargate Atlantis
will conclude on Friday, January 9 at 9/8c, followed by the season finale of Sanctuary
Furthermore, Sci Fi will be adding repeat episodes of Moonlight
, the vampire series that originally aired on CBS, and Invasion
, the ABC drama starring William Fichtner. Reruns of both series will kick off on Friday, January 23 with Invasion
at 8/7c and Moonlight
at 9/8c, leading into Battlestar Galactica
at 10/9c. Both Moonlight
aired for one season before their respective networks decided not to pick them up for a sophomore season, despite fans' campaign efforts, including online petitions, mailing of water bottles and blood donation, to revive both series.
