Hey there Psych fans! Well, we've been hearing about this elusive idea of a musical episode from our favorite wacky series and now it looks like it's going to happen. No really, I mean it.
Zap2It reports that the people behind Psych have already started lining up guest stars for the episode.

First to be added to the guest cast is Brooke Lyons (2 Broke Girls), who is set to play a character named Elisa, described as "a playwright's muse and an original member of the cast of an ill-fated musical." We're also hearing rumors that the name of said musical is going to be "Ripper!" but the network hasn't confirmed it so don't quote us on it quite yet.

Next to be added to the musical's guest cast is Anthony Rapp, star of Rent on Broadway and in the film version. Rapp will be playing 'Z,' the playwright of the ill-fated musical.

The cast and crew announced at Comic-Con this year that the musical episode will begin taping in October and will use original songs written by the show's creator, Steve Franks. Considering he's also the guy who wrote and performs the Psych opening theme song, I'm thinking the music is going to be pretty awesome and I'm also anticipating that the episode is going to be one of the best in the series.

If you've watched even a few episodes of Psych, chances are you've heard both James Roday and Dule Hill break into song at one time or another. The two have even recorded versions of Tears For Fears' song 'Don't You (Forget About Me), as well as the Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder hit 'Ebony and Ivory.' So there's no doubt that they've got the hops to handle a musical episode. And seeing that I myself just saw their fellow cast mate Timothy Omdundson (who plays Lassiter on the show) doing a fantastic job of belting out some karaoke at a recent Supernatural convention, I'm betting that Roday and Hill won't be the only members of the cast singing in the episode.

As news of the musical episode continues to leak out, I am finding my excitement level growing to near-epic levels. How about you guys? How excited are you for the Psych musical episode to finally make its way on to the air?
