The last time we saw quirky Shawn (
James Roday) on our screens was practically a couple of months ago back in November (for ironically their Christmas episode). Last we checked, Gus' sister Joy was in town for the holidays, and she seemed hell-bent in resuming an old relationship with Shawn, who, in turn doesn't want Gus (Dulé Hill) to know about it. Now they came across a little girl to get a local Santa out of jail, and eventually they started thinking they must've been conned, until a dead body turned up.
On tonight's episode of
Psych called “Six Feet Under the Sea,” Shabby the sea lion is found dead after being released into the wild. Shawn comes into the picture to prove that that they are in the midst of a murder case, until he stumbles into an even bigger mystery.
On the preview, an incredulous Shawn and a grieving Gus attend the (open-casket) funeral of Shabby. Gus tells Shawn of Shabby's more sterling qualities, while Shawn cannot believe how everyone is responding so gravely to the death of a sea creature. When the two approach the coffin to say a few parting words, Shawn notices something, a wound or something that resembles it, that tells him Shabby may not have died accidentally, and someone may have killed him.
