Shawn, Gus and the rest of the ensemble that make up the hilarious drama Psych will be returning to the small screen with all new episodes beginning July 18.  So far, we already have a clue on what to expect for season 3, including the casting of Cybill Shepherd, most recently known for her stint on The L Word, as Spencer's (James Roday) mom Madeleine, and Steven Weber, who most recently appeared on Brothers & Sisters, as Shawn's uncle.  But apart from the expansion of Shawn's family, cast member Maggie Lawson reveals more intriguing tidbits that will get fans even more excited about the new episodes.

Warning: Minor spoilers ahead.

The new season of Psych will reportedly make room for a more dramatic side of Shawn Spencer, the young crime consultant for the Santa Barbara, California Police Department (SBPD) whose "heightened observational skills" and impressive detective instincts allow him to convince people that he is psychic.  This is something that viewers got a taste of during the last few episodes of season 2.

“This season we add a lot of different elements to the show.  You see a little more of an emotional side to Shawn, James' character.  And there's just some weight that hits really hard this year. I think it's going to be a great season,” Maggie Lawson, who plays Shawn's potential love interest Juliet "Jules" O'Hara, told monstersandcritics.com.

“We'll start to see a little more of the maybe romantic side in Shawn's life play out a little bit more with well, I'm not going to give too much away - it's going to be a really good year and we're so excited that John [Landis is] directing us again,” she added.

Moreover, fans can look forward to some notable names such as Rachael Leigh Cook, Ted Lange, Jeff Fahey, Gary Cole, and Christopher McDonald as they make an appearance for the third season.

Psych also stars Dulé Hill, Timothy Omundson, Kirsten Nelson and Corbin Bernsen.
