Oklahoma-born Kirsten Nelson attended Northwestern University. She is one of the founding members of Roadworks Theatre Ensemble in Chicago before she moved to Los Angeles. She appeared in popular TV shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Frasier, Ally McBeal, The West Wing and Just Shoot Me! She was cast in several movies, including The Untouchables and War of the Worlds.
 
Karen Vick is played by Kirsten Nelson on USA channel’s drama-comedy series Psych. Vick is impressed by Shawn Spencer’s psychic-like abilities when he helped her solve a series of crimes, although she is still skeptical if his ability is really psychic in nature.
