'Project Runway's Chris March Praised for Meryl Streep's Oscar Dress
It's always great to see that Project Runway alums have made it in the real, not reality TV, world of fashion.  Recently, one of the most unforgettable contestants of the show hit it big at the Oscars.  Chris March was asked to dress acclaimed actress Meryl Streep for the event, joining the chosen few who underwent Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum's tutelage.

For the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, Chris March got a call from the star.  Knowing how he's like when he's ecstatic, we bet the look on his face was priceless at that moment.  He told People that he "almost fainted" when Meryl Streep rang him up.

"I was thrilled and honored to get another call from Meryl," the Project Runway designer told the publication.  Soon, he found himself working alongside the Best Actress nominee in order to create her gown.

Their efforts really did pay off, as the It's Complicated star received rave reviews for her Oscars outfit.  She was decked in elegant white, which certainly made Meryl Streep one of the most stylish actresses of the evening.

"She was dying to wear two matching Fred Leighton Art Deco black and diamond bracelets, and wanted something white and Old Hollywood glamour to go with them," Chris March explained.  "Her only requirement was a fabulously plunging neckline."

Taking the star's ideas into account, the Project Runway designer set off to get to work.  Dressing Meryl Streep for the Oscars was already quite an honor for him, but the respect and admiration he incurred for that were definitely a plus.

"I worked on a classic but modernized silhouette [and] I think we really knocked it out of the park; between the hair, makeup, jewelry and the dress she is all over (and deservedly so!) the Best Dressed Lists," March went on.  "She is an absolute jewel!"

After all their brainstorming, everything really worked out in the end.  Chris March's first red carpet dress is already a success, so we can't help but hope he'll be back for more next year.  When someone like Meryl Streep has been your client, you can only expect to get even busier.
