Thirty-nine year old Carmen Webber from Charlotte, North Carolina studied Architecture at Savannah College of Art and Design and is inspired by designers such as Tracy Reece, Epperson and Byron Lars. At the tender age of 16, she began modeling in trunk shows for Alexander Julian, DKNY and Anne Klein. While in high school, she began taking fashion merchandising courses through the DECCA Club and also competed in a regional contest for fashion marketing and branding. Upon moving on to Savannah College of Art and Design, she completed a double major in fashion design and illustration, and emerged as the top fashion designer of her class. Success came to her as she worked as an intern for Christope LeMaire, the head designer for Lacoste. Webber later worked as a sales associate for Paco Rabanne and consequently showcased her own first ready-to-wear collection at La Couple Jazz Club in Paris in 1996. Five years later, she launched the “Sistahs of Harlem,” a clothing line with her partner Carmia Marshall.
Carmen Webber appears on season 4 of Project Runway, as one of fifteen contestants to snip and snap for the ultimate price of fashion recognition in the reality series from Bravo.
