Previously, fans were let in on a new fall treat entitled
Project Gary, which follows a divorced painting contractor as he deals with his calculating former wife while trying to open the door to the possibility of new relationships. Premiering on Wednesday, September 24 at 8:30pm on CBS, the sitcom promises an hour long of laughter as audiences take a peek into the life of Gary Barnes, played by Jay Mohr, who was recently seen in
Ghost Whisperer, playing Professor Rick Payne.
Thirty-seven year old Mohr, who left
Ghost Whisperer for
Project Gary, is also popularly known for his work as the creator, host and executive producer of NBC’s
Last Comic Standing, which ran for three seasons with Mohr. When the show was renewed for a fourth season, he refused to work on it and thus moved on to other projects.
It seems that shows aren’t the only subjects for renewals as earlier this month, Jay Mohr renewed his wedding vows outside the country. Mohr, who married actress Nikki Cox in December 2006, left the country with his wife, subsequently missing the TCA.
Coincidentally, the CBS sitcom entitled
Project Gary also had a renewal, and this time, the producers decided to change the title of the show to
Gary Unmarried, citing that the new title is more appealing and reflects the character even more.
CBS recently released a behind the scenes video for
Gary Unmarried, which features Mohr talking about his character. He described Gary as the typical blue-collar worker who strives to support his family, despite being newly divorced from his wife of 15 years. He adds that throughout the series, audiences may think that Gary wouldn’t be the perfect dad, but eventually would see the side of him that values his family very much.
