EW's Michael Ausiello just got us the scoop that could blow the Will versus Charlie debate on the CW's
Privileged wide open. In fact, this juicy bit of news spells the end for one of these two hunky boys who are both after the heart of our fair heroine, Megan Smith (JoAnna Garcia).
Michael Cassidy, who plays Charlie on
Privileged, will be leaving the show. His final appearance will be in the show's 15th episode, entitled “All About the Big Picture,” when Charlie decides to go back to college. Cassidy has decided to leave
Privileged for both creative and budgetary reasons.
The series creator, Rina Mimoun, confirms that Charlie will be leaving town, “but not until some hot and heavy kissing goes down.” She's staying mum, however, on which lovely young lady Charlie will actually be kissing.
Mimoun thinks Cassidy is “a prince,” and she's definitely leaving the door open for a possible return to return to the show in the future. However, right now, she is more concerned about
Privileged itself returning for a second season.
Childhood best friends, Megan and Charlie are the Joey and Dawson of the 21st century. Of course, when Charlie decides to go back to college, this leaves the door wide open for Megan and Will's relationship to flourish. Will (
Brian Hallisay), Megan's billionaire, reformed-playboy next-door-neighbor, I'm sure, will not shed a tear to see Charlie go.
The next episode of Privileged is called “All About What Lies Beneath” and airs next Tuesday, January 6. Here is the official CW synopsis of this episode:
Megan is upset when Shelby (guest star Sharon Lawrence) tells her that Will is a playboy who will never commit. Megan finally confronts Shelby and lets out all her anger over being abandoned. As an excuse for Sage (
Ashley Newbrough) to spend more time with Luis, Rose (
Lucy Hale) comes up with the idea of throwing an elaborate charity dinner, complete with a synchronized swim team to tell the story of Cuban refugees. However, the plan backfires when Luis reveals he is not of Cuban descent. Meanwhile, Marco's (
Allan Louis) boyfriend Keith encourages Marco to quit his job and open his own café, but they end up arguing about their future together. Charlie decides to go back to school, but his girlfriend Mandy turns manipulative when she learns he'll be spending study time with Megan. Finally, Megan is shocked to get a phone call telling her that her sister Lily is in jail.
Are you sad to see Charlie go?
