How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls,
Privileged follows 23-year-old Yale-educated Megan Smith (JoAnna Garcia) as she takes on a job as the live-in tutor for the two teen granddaughters of cosmetics mogul Laurel Limoges (Anne Archer). The girls are beautiful, rebellious and bitchy, and they immediately clash with the sunny and upbeat Megan.
When I first heard about
Privileged, it seemed like nothing more than the CW's cheap attempt to clone
Gossip Girl. Not only is it also based on a popular Young Adult novel, but it has beautiful, bitchy teen girls dressing fashionably and sniping at one another. It may have seemed like a clone on paper, but the commercials for
Privileged have made it obvious the show is going for a different tone. It looks more like
Gilmore Girls with a dash of the Upper East Side.
Based on the novel by Zoey Dean,
Privileged stars
Joanna Garcia (
Reba) as a smart, young twentysomething who is fired from her job at a tabloid the day after her apartment burns down. She soon takes a job as a tutor to rich girls Rose and Sage, and the inevitable culture clash leads to wacky shenanigans. Other characters include the mansion's staff, some cute guys to get the teen girls in the audience swooning, and Megan's supportive sister.
Looking to be part comedy and part drama,
Privileged finds Megan dealing with the world of glitz and excess when she's thrown into a gorgeous house and given a brand new car -- while also having to avoid being tasered by overzealous teen prima donnas. Watch Megan's life get turned completely upside down when the series premieres September 9 on the CW.
Will you watch Privileged?
