Private Practice: Kate Walsh Finally Lives Up to Star Within while Keeping the Diva in Check
Kate Walsh, who turned 40 last October 13, has been around the entertainment block for some time. No stranger to television, she has appeared in over 40 shows throughout her acting career, but not until she came on board award-winning and consistent top-rating
Grey's Anatomy did she emerge from virtual anonymity to stardom.
After three seasons, Walsh earned her own
Grey's Anatomy spin-off series,
Private Practice. Now a recognizable name and face among media and television audiences, Walsh is soaring to new career heights as well as the bliss of a very recent marriage.
"I was looking at her the other day, we were at an event together and she entered the room and it was like one of those all-heads-are-turning' moments," Marti Noxon, executive producer of
Private Practice and a close friend of the actress remarked.
Indeed, Walsh now seems to be reaping the same recognition that she has always apparently had with writers, producers and insiders.
"Among writers and producers, there's been buzz about her for years," Noxon added. ".. the role she had on
Grey's seems to have taken her to that next level in terms of self-confidence and holding herself - all that talent suddenly gelled, she's finally started to carry herself like the star that she really is."
But although Walsh is now emulating the true star that has always been inside her, the actress refuses to let the fame and accolades get in the way of more down to earth and close to home concerns. Still radiating the aura only newly happily married people seem to exude, Walsh and new hubby, Alex Young, are relishing those precious moments of a loving, learning and collecting doggie droppings. Yes, dog droppings.
"There was this kind of funny moment, after we were like we're married and all of the hoopla was over and we were like, 'What do we do now?'"
Private Practice's lead star told Ellen DeGeneres on her show last Tuesday. "We're married. Alright, I guess we just live and love and learn from each other."
"Basically everything's the same except that we have a bigger house,” Walsh added. “I still pick up my own dog poop. You just can't ask someone to do that. I can't. It's a good exercise in humility. You just got to get down there. There's nothing like a picture of me in the backyard holding up a bag of poop."
