Prison Break’s Chinese deal - or no deal? It turns out Prison Break’s not heading to China – at least not in exactly the same way
we thought.
As well, this week Lane Garrison pled guilty to manslaughter charges in LA, and the
Prison Break season two DVD release date was announced.
Read on for details of all these stories.
Fox denies Chinese Prison Break movie
Reports have been circulating for some time that Chinese production company Zhongbo Media Group had purchased the rights to make Fox's
Prison Break into a movie. Some Chinese news outlets even reported that Prison Break star
Wentworth Miller was heading to China to promote the deal, and might help cast actors for the Chinese version of
Prison Break.
However, Fox claims this is all totally untrue and that they haven’t made any such deal. Zhongbo Media Group stands by their announcement, saying they’ll hold a press conference when the contract is signed. (Don’t hold your breath.)
Chinese Prison Break fans can rejoice, however: the Chinese network Star TV is going to officially broadcast season one and two of
Prison Break this summer. While the episodes have been available on the internet and pirated DVDs for some time, the network promises that these legal broadcasts will be of much better quality, including proper subtitle translations.
Lane Garrison pleads guilty
Prison Break’s Tweener,
Lane Garrison, was arraigned this week in Beverly Hills Superior Court. Pleading guilty to charges of vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving after the December incident which killed 17-year-old Vahagn Setian and injured two other teens, he faces a maximum sentence of 6 years in prison. His sentencing will take place in August.
Season two DVD release date announced
Finally, Fox has announced the North American DVD release date for season two of
Prison Break. After first announcing it for August 21, then saying that was an error and they meant August 28, they seem to have settled on September 4, 2007. The season two set will reportedly include commentary tracks on eleven of the episodes, and bonus features including “Turning Dallas into America,” “Reinvention of a Series,” and a “Kill Clip” Easter egg. In the UK, the first half of season two came out on DVD this week.
