When Alexander Mahone first showed up on
Prison Break, I hated him – and with good reason. This one time drug addicted federal agent was obsessed with tracking down criminals, even putting his family on the back burner for his career. He killed Abruzzi, Tweener, and Haywire, not to mention Michael and Lincoln’s father. Yet, no one learned more than Mahone that karma can be a bitch. He was thrown in Sona, abandoned by the people he worked for, and lost his son at the hands of a heartless assassin. All of these experiences have caused Mahone to change and he went from being my least favorite character on the show to my most favorite. However, one of my early reservations in liking him was that he replaced my original favorite character, Paul Kellerman. Over time, the wounds have healed but when
Paul Adelstein starts bringing up old memories, it’s hard not to let my emotions get the best of me!
Here’s a little ray of hope for fans of Kellerman, if they still exist. When asked by TV Guide if his Prison Break character is definitely dead, Paul Adelstein responded, “I am definitely of that mind, although there have been no indications that he is not dead.” Don’t expect any revelations from Adelstein about exactly who opened the van doors to greet him in his last appearance on the show. It could have been a good surprise or very, very bad. “That's why it was a fun piece of writing, because it could play either way. I'm either being rescued... or I'm being deep-sixed,” he said.
If this is, in fact
Prison Break's last season and if, in fact, Kellerman is not dead then I will pay pretty ridiculous amounts of money to see him come back for one last episode and aid in Michael's fight against The Company. There's probably no better duo than a Mahone/Kellerman combination. They have inside knowledge, they're both extremely intelligent, and neither will hesitate to pull the trigger. Look out Wyatt and Gretchen!
