Wow so
Prison Break wasn't kidding when they promised to return with a bang for season 4. Of course, we all knew that Michael and Sara would reunite but how great was it to see them back together by the end of the season premiere?
Prison Break doled out two new episodes last night, "Scylla" and "Breaking and Entering", and they covered a lot of ground. All summer long, I had been wondering how the heck Bellick, Sucre, and T-Bag were going to get out of Sona. The answer: burn Sona to the ground in a prison riot. We only heard about when Linc shared the news with Michael. Seemed a bit too easy but hey, some of my favorite characters were back on the outside so I wasn't going to argue.
The show wasted no time in shedding a little blood and killing off some characters.
Prison Break let us think, for the first episode, that Gretchen had been killed. She tried to retrieve and important computer card, known as Scylla, but only got her hands on a duplicate instead of the original. Scylla is The Company's little black book and is extremely valuable to them. Turns out Gretchen survived the grasp of Wyatt, a deadly assassin, but she won't get off easy. The last time we saw her, she was strapped to a chair and it looked like her punishment was far from over.
Wyatt also took out Whistler, which was a shock and a loss for
Prison Break fans. We all wanted to know what Whistler's deal was and perhaps we'll still find out, even though he's dead. As he talked to Michael and Mahone in an alleyway, he was shot in the head while in mid-sentence. Wyatt took him out after thinking that Mahone had Scylla on him but he did not and his death may have slightly been in vain. It will be interesting to see Sofia's reaction when she finds out.
The deadly assassin was far from taking his finger off the trigger. In perhaps his most brutal and heartless move, he killed Mahone's wife and young son just as he was about be reunited with them. As Mahone drove up to his house, he freaked out at the sight of police tape and a crowd gathered outside. He tried to run in but he was stopped by several officers who told him that he wouldn't want to go in there and see what, or who, was inside.
This seems to be a very dangerous season for the characters on
Prison Break. Scylla refers to a character in Homer's The Odyssey. In the same chapter that Scylla is referenced, Odyssius realizes that he must sacrifice 6 of his men in order to achieve of his goal. This spells nothing but tragedy for Michael, who has 6 people in his group to take down The Company: Lincoln, Sara, Sucre, Mahone, Bellick, and Roland, the computer hacker. It seems that, this season, no one is safe.
