Robert Knepper as Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell

His family history has been able to shed light on Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell’s twisted and maniacal behavior. He came into existence after his abusive father raped T-Bag’s older sister, who was suffering from Down syndrome.

Growing up, T-Bag was as a victim of his father's molestation and spent his years in and out of jail. When he was sentenced to Alabama's Donaldson maximum-security prison, T-Bag became a leader in the Alliance for Purity, a white supremacist group. Upon his release from the jail, he embarked on a rape and murder spree across Alabama, landing him on the TV series, America's Most Wanted. After his capture, Bagwell's attorney petitioned for him to be incarcerated out of state, with the fear that Bagwell would re-establish power in the Alliance for Purity.

When Bagwell was sentenced to Fox River, there was no chapter of the Alliance, but with T-Bag's help, it is now one of the prison's most powerful gangs. T-Bag has strong negative feelings for people outside of his own race, and while in the prison, frequently raped younger inmates.

Out of the 8 inmates who successfully broke out of Fox River State Penitentiary, T-Bag is the most disturbed and unstable. The only reason why Michael Scofield agreed to let T-Bag in on his escape plan was because T-Bag accidentally discovered the hole in Michael’s and Sucre’s cell wall. From there, he ensured his survival and place in the group by constantly threatening to tell on them. He even tried to kill mob boss, John Abruzzi, but Abruzzi eventually avenged himself by cutting off T-Bag’s hand after they escaped. In a crazed frenzy, T-Bag saved his hand and went to a veterinarian (who he ended up killing) to get it reattached.

Upon having tasted freedom again, T-Bag did not hesitate to kill more people, but his main objective was to exact revenge on Susan Hollander, the woman who was responsible for his arrest. In his journey to find Susan, T-Bag was able to get D.B. Cooper’s money and when Michael, Sucre and former Fox River C.O. Brad Bellick found him, he shot Brad in the leg and stuck a screwdriver in Sucre’s chest.

Eventually, T-Bag was apprehended by Panamanian police.
