Biography

C-note

Rockmond Dunbar as Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin

Benjamin Miles “C-Note” Franklin was a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army, stationed in Kuwait, but after refusing to keep quiet after witnessing inmate abuse, he was was dishonorably discharged and returned home to learn that his war record was now a major blemish on his resume. Desperate to provide for his wife Kacee and daughter Dede, Franklin secretly took up a job transporting stolen goods, but was arrested by the local police. Unwilling to rat out his friends, C-Note was sentenced to Fox River Penitentiary.

Thoroughly ashamed to admit his true state and condition, C-note told Kacee that he was returning to Iraq, and to make his lie more believable, got into some insider trading in order to acquire some Iraqi postcards, which he used to write to his family. He told his brother-in-law to watch over his wife and daughter in his absence, but when he found out about Michael Scofield’s plan to break out, he blackmailed Michael into letting him join the group. C-Note found it easy to get along with Charles Westmoreland (aka D.B. Cooper), but constantly conflicted with T-Bag because of the latter’s racist attitude.

When they successfully broke out of prison, Kacee and their daughter were put under the FBI’s surveillance. C-Note tried to contact his family and apologized profusely to his Kacee, and later on, was able to convince her to escape to with him. The authorities eventually caught up with them, but only Kacee was arrested. On the run again, C-note faced another obstacle when his daughter got sick. Because he often came out in public in order to find medication for his daughter, Agent Alexander Mahone found him and tried to get C-Note to kill himself by threatening his family’s life. Fortunately, C-Note was placed in the Witness Protection Program after he made a deal with Agent Wheeler regarding Mahone’s unethical behavior.
