Just like we all strive to be better people each year, so should our favorite TV characters. This past year, so many of them have been through some of the toughest times in their lives. As the year draws to a close, many of them need to reflect on their behavior and figure out what resolutions they should make so that they have a great coming year. We're here to help. From Game of Thrones' Sansa Stark to The Vampire Diaries' Damon Salvatore, we've come up with six New Year's resolutions these TV characters definitely need to make.

19 Major TV Deaths of 2016>>>

1. "I will hold on to my morality." - Felicity Smoak, Arrow

Felicity is headed down a dark path on Arrow. The death of Billy Malone will undoubtedly shake her to her core, so Felicity needs to make sure she keeps herself grounded. It has already been confirmed that his passing will lead Felicity to make "morally questionable choices," so we can only hope she doesn't go past the point of no return. She will definitely want to act on her feelings and even find someone to blame. It's important that Felicity keep that fundamentally good core of hers. It's what keeps her (and Oliver) in line when things get tough.

2. "I will get control of my anger issues." - Damon Salvatore, The Vampire Diaries

Damon has had a seriously rough year. He's done a lot of bad things against his will, but he's also made some pretty awful choices out of anger. Damon has never been much of a thinker and acts out of impulse far too often. Most of the times that happens, Damon is acting out of anger. It's really getting out of hand and with just half a season left of The Vampire Diaries, we'd like to see him find some serenity soon.

3. "I will not let pride tear my family apart." - Sansa Stark, Game of Thrones

Sansa has had a hell of a year and overcome a lot of adversity. Now, perhaps the biggest thing she'll have to overcome is herself. We caught a glimmer of jealousy and power trips brewing between Sansa and Jon in the season 6 finale (thanks a lot, Littlefinger.) It would be very easy for Sansa to give in to this and think she deserves to be making the decisions. She needs to make sure she keeps her ego in check and puts family first.

4. "I will get my love life in order." - Emily Fields, Pretty Little Liars

What has been going on with Emily lately? She feels so disconnected from everyone that with each relationship she gets into, we feel her distancing herself more and more. First was Sabrina, who she pushed away to spend time with Paige. Then, just as she and Paige were getting closer again, her feelings for Ali took over and they made out. Alison has played her a few times, and it's really not fair to take advantage of Emily's feelings. Still, Emily is an adult and needs to sort that out for herself. If she can't figure out who she wants to be with, she'll end up seriously hurting everyone who cares for her.

5. "I will reconcile with my mother." - Randall Pearson, This Is Us

Randall and his mother had it out over Thanksgiving when he discovered that she had known about his biological father all along. Randall went and did some soul searching and was able to confront his mother about how her actions had hurt him deeply. Rebecca was heartbroken and wanted to apologize and hug it out, but Randall wasn't ready for that. Even at Christmas, the two didn't address it. Randall needs to make sure he and his mother discuss this and move forward. Given recent events, he should realize how precious life and time really are and not take his mother for granted.

6. "I will let myself love again." - Meredith Grey, Grey's Anatomy

Meredith has been through some serious tragedies. After the death of her husband, it's totally understandable that she would develop a harder shell and be less open with others. When you lose your one true love, it's hard to imagine finding anyone ever again. That being said, Meredith can, and should, open herself up again. Maybe to Dr. Riggs, or maybe to someone completely different. Either way, she needs to find love again.
