Carrie Underwood's Blown Away Goes Platinum

The first single from Carrie Underwood's Blown Away, "Good Girl," hit platinum status back in June. And now, three months later, the album itself has been certified platinum, having shipped 1 million copies.

From the press release:

"Superstar Carrie Underwood's fourth album Blown Away has been certified Platinum by the RIAA and returns to the No. 1 spot this week, marking six cumulative weeks at the summit of Billboard's Top Country Albums Chart." What makes this success even more impressive is that her current single of the same name, "Blown Away," made its way into the Top 10 on the Billboard country airplay chart: "This marks Underwood's 16th single to reach the Top 10, which according to Billboard is a record among women in the tally's 68-year history."

Stream Bucky Covington's Good Guys for Free

Bucky Covington may have only placed eighth on American Idol season 5, but he just released his second album, Good Guys, this week. And you can head on over to AOL's Full CD Listening Party to stream the entire album for free. Overall, it's a solid album for the country singer, with Country Weekly giving it four out of five stars.

Paul McDonald's "Counting Stars" & Colton Dixon's "You Are"

But if listening to Good Guys isn't enough, how about getting a first listen at new songs by Paul McDonald and Colton Dixon? The former has released "Counting Stars," a song that he performed on the premiere of NBC's Parenthood this week. Giving an update on how is debut album is progressing, McDonald says, "I'm off to Nashville to record the full-length [album] the next two months -- with real musicians and some folks from my old band [the Grand Magnolias]."

BuddyTV recently reported that Colton Dixon is now signed to Sparrow Records, with his debut single, "You Are," set to officially hit radio stations on October 19. But apparently, some radio station did play the song to their listeners (maybe the label is trying to create some early buzz?), and you can listen to it below:

The Top 10 Join Phillip Phillips on "Home"

This year's Idol finalists are one step closer to saying goodbye to the show that put them on the national stage, as the American Idol Live! tour closed out its final show in North America on Tuesday night. (However, there is still one last concert to put on in the Philippines later this month.) And to mark the occasion, the entire Top 10 joined winner Phillip Phillips on his successful single, "Home."
