CSI . In 1999, Hyde was cast for the role of Sam Bennett on the drama series, Passions.
Sam Bennett of Passions is played by James Hyde. Sam is the eldest of two sons of former Harmony Police Chief Benjamin Bennett and Margaret Joyce Bennett. As a kid, he became best friends with TC Russell and when he was a teenager, he fell in love with Ivy Winthrop, the daughter of Governor Harrison Winthrop. He briefly went away to work on one of the boats of the governor as to earn money for he was planning to wed Ivy upon his return. Without his knowing, Ivy's father intercepted his letters to her, thus Ivy thought that Sam had forgotten all about her. Ivy began to date the wealthy Julian Crane, much to her father's approval. She later ran off to Sam when she realized that Julian did not love her and was marrying her only because of the pressure from their parents.
