DirecTV signed many of the major cast members to stay on once Passions makes it move. Continuing with the show will be: Eric Martsolf (Ethan), Ben Masters (Julian), Kim Johnston Ulrich (Ivy), Dylan Fergus (Noah), Galen Gering (Luis), and more.
"This is great news for fans of the show who will be able to seamlessly join their favorite characters for new adventures on the 101," said Patty Ishimoto, General Manager of DirecTV Entertainment. "We are busy getting ready to welcome Passions to its new home on DirecTV."
Fan reaction has been mixed. Some plan on following their favorite soap opera to its new home while others plan to start watching a new soap opera that they won't have to pay for. Petitions made their way around to keep the soap on network television, but to no avail.
Passions, created by daytime veteran James Reilly, debuted in 1999 on NBC. Set in Harmony, an idyllic New England town, Passions follows the lives of four families: the Cranes, the Lopez-Fitzgeralds, the Bennetts, and the Russells. In this rich, harbor community, each family has their own challenges and desires. Passions has become known for its storylines featuring: witchcraft, talking dolls, kidnappings, explosions, and blackmail.
