Paris Hilton's My New BFF

Paris' New 'BFF'? It's Brittany
After ten weeks, eighteen wannabes and loads of drama—with a sprinkling of bitchiness, if I’m allowed to say that—Paris Hilton’s My New BFF has a winner.  Paris finally chose her new BFF.  And it happens to be Brittany.

The two remaining BFF wannabes, Brittany and Vanessa, were brought to New York, and were each given a chance to get Paris all for themselves for one day.  A dizzy Brittany was treated to a shopping spree, including an ice cream sundae worth a thousand dollars.  (So what exactly was in it that made it so expensive?)  Vanessa was given a personal tour of East Hampton, a trip to the spa and, quite importantly, a ring that says those crucial letters: BFF.

Of course, Vanessa wants to be Paris’ friend so, so, sooo bad.  Every time she’s up for discussion she cries, and more so in the last weeks of the search when everybody was put into scrutiny.  Throughout the series, she’s bent on getting Paris’ attention—in the flight to New York, for instance, she asked Brittany to switch places so she can be closer to Paris!  That ring meant a lot to her.  She was so confident that she’d won the entire thing, and Brittany herself was surprised, and perhaps a bit frustrated that it couldn’t be dealt with more directly.

The catch is, however, the tables will be turned towards the end.  Paris said, in last week’s episode, that elimination is her least favorite part of the game, so I guess she decided to save herself the pain of seeing someone go.  (Besides, the final elimination felt like forever; she’s had a hard time deciding, to the point that she walked out of the ceremony.  Or at least that’s what the script says.)  Both girls were brought—in matching dresses, weird wigs and separate cars—to a masquerade party Paris was hosting.  That’s where things get a little complicated.

Vanessa learns that she’s eliminated through a note from Paris.  She ends up getting very teary-eyed—what else do you expect her to do?  As for Brittany, she wasn’t sure if she won the entire thing, especially with the BFF ring her competitor was so proud of.  Turns out, the masquerade party is an unveiling party of sorts.  Paris tells her she wins, and they become best friends happily ever after.

So what do you think?  Personally I was rooting for Brittany, so it couldn’t have gone any better—she’s down-to-earth and frank, whatever people may say about her actual intentions for joining the show.  Although Vanessa does seem to have stalker tendencies, with the way she looks (although that’s shallow, mind you) and the way she tries to get Paris’ attention, you’ve got to say she really loved the connection, although the way she makes it know gets annoying.  Overall, however, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF was one hell of a ride, and as much as some may be skeptical over the entire thing, here’s hoping that everything does end with BFF rather than yet another TTYN.
