Now that Parenthood lead star Maura Tierney's breast tumor has pushed Mercy from midseason to fall, Gossip Girl fans are now pondering whether this move will affect Michelle Trachtenberg's appearance in the third season of the CW teen drama. Trachtenberg has been cast as rookie nurse Chloe Payne on the NBC drama Mercy, which was supposed to air in January but has now been set to launch in September. Obviously, the cast and crew of the medical show have been asked to start work much earlier than expected.

According to sources close to the series, however, there should not be a conflict, as Trachtenberg's Mercy contract included a clause allowing her time off to shoot Gossip Girl."

It looks like Gossip Girl will deliver its promise after all. It has been reported that Trachtenberg will reprise her role as Georgina Sparks in a three-episode arc next season as Blair's roommate.

After playing the show's resident bad girl in season 1, Georgina Sparks returned in the season 2 episode "Southern Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." This time, she claimed that she has been saved by Jesus and was no longer the evil person that she was before. Unfortunately, her return was not welcomed by anyone, especially Blair who refused to believe Georgina has changed for the better. Because of Blair's accusations, Georgina was reminded of her old ways and reverted back to her old self. As the episode concludes, she called Blair and told her "You can tell Jesus that the bitch is back."

In the season finale of Gossip Girl, Georgina returned and revealed that she will be attending NYU the following year, where she enrolled at The Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She also requested to be Blair Waldorf's roommate.

"It's definitely a cliffhanger, and obviously very exciting," Trachtenberg said of her season finale appearance. "Obviously one can assume from that dialogue being spoken that there are many more crazy things to come for Georgina."
