Mark Margolis was born on November 26, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He eventually went on to briefly pursue higher learning at Temple University, before deciding to move to New York City instead. During his time in the Big Apple, he studied the art of drama together with Stella Adler, and also trained at the Actors Studio. Margolis has performed in a number of television productions and films, most notably those by Darren Aronofsky: Requiem for a Dream, Pi, and The Fountain. Among the television series that he has acted in are The Equalizer, Quantum Leap, and Crossing Jordan.
Antonio Nappa is portrayed by Mark Margolis in the HBO prison drama television series Oz. He is an Italian mob boss who was caught and thrown into the slammer for murdering a man in a strip joint. After Peter Schibetta is transferred to the psychiatric ward, Nappa seizes control of the jail’s Italian gang. Nappa is also a kitchen worker for the prison. He works together with Kenny Wangler in order to get a cut of the drug trade, and often receives advice from Chucky Pancamo. However, Nappa’s existence is irreversibly tainted and doomed once Simon Adebisi of the Homeboys faction infects him with HIV.
