I must be getting lazy in my old age, because I did not see the sonogram twist coming at the end of last night's
One Tree Hill.
Season 7 is off to a fairly great start, proving that even without the
happy epic love of Peyton and Lucas, the show can survive.
The biggest bombshell of the evening came when Clay learned of the
proof Rene has regarding her one-night stand on the road with Nathan: a
sonogram of her baby. Yes, right now it looks like Nathan Scott is
going to be a daddy once again, only this time it's not with Haley.
Of course this could all be a false alarm, but Nathan seems to be taking this seriously enough that him being the father is an actual possibility. Sure, he could take a paternity test, but there are only two outcomes, and one of them spells the end of his life as he knows it.
However, I will give Nathan credit for not trying to hide and actually acting like an adult and talking to Haley about this right away. He learned his lesson from crazy Nanny Carrie, so now he's more open. No matter what the outcome, this is the kind of juicy, exciting drama that will definitely make the perfect couple not so happy.
As for the rest of the episode, there's the ongoing battle of nakedness in Skills and Mouth's apartment, Quinn's breakup and Julian's daddy issues, but the episode really centered on three primary
One Tree Hill storylines.
Who's the Bitch Now?Haley was pretty spectacular in her insanity, going head-to-head with Miranda Stone to save Red Bedroom Records. Her spot-on Peyton and Lucas impressions were hysterical, as was the way she brought in Mia and proceeded to carry on two conversations at once. Haley was definitely the better bitch, which makes me think Rene is in for a rough time if she wants to ruin Haley's marriage. And in the best news of the night, Mia and Chase are still together!
That's What She SaidWhen I
interviewed Austin Nichols, he raved about Jana Kramer's performance as Alex Dupre, and now I see why. Whether she was creeped out by cripples or being totally oblivious to the classic "That's what she said" joke, Alex was on fire. I also need to praise Brooke for not slapping the crap out of her when Alex suggested Clothes Over Bros was a clothing line for plus size women like Brooke. As far as I'm concerned, Alex is welcome to stay in Tree Hill as long as she wants, and my fingers are crossed that she stars in Julian's next movie.
Rachel Getting Married...to DanIn the grossest, most messed up and most amazing storyline, we learn that Dan Scott is now married...to Rachel! Yes, she tried getting her hands on Lucas, Nathan and Nathan's uncle, but now the former druggie is married to Dan Scott, forming the most unholy alliance in TV history.
I will be fascinated to see how this happened and what it means, but for now, I actually just feel sorry for Dan, because I have no doubt she's using him for something. Call me crazy, but I believe that Dan Scott has genuinely changed and is truly a better person, but Rachel is still as manipulative and devious as always.
Whatever happens, I only hope these two get to come back into the fold with the rest of the cast at some point. How cool would it be to hear Jamie say "Grandma Rachel"?
