It was moving day on
One Tree Hill, and everybody was making
plans. Brooke and Julian's relationship took a turn for the worst, as
did Mouth and Millie. Skills and Mouth planned a move to Los Angeles,
Haley prepared to go on tour, Dan and Clay tried to choose retirement,
Alex decided to kill herself and, most importantly, Nathan Scott got an
offer to play basketball...in Spain.
Would
One Tree Hill really ship the second Scott brother away for an extended period of time? The Barcelona offer is on the table, but luckily, there are a number of options for the show to take.
Nathan in SpainIf
One Tree Hill wanted to be truly daring, they'd send Nathan to Barcelona and the second half of the season would leave him stranded in a foreign country, his only connection back to Tree Hill coming from phone calls and Skype. But sidelining your male lead seems like a bad idea.
Flash ForwardOne Tree Hill has made good use of flash forwards in the past, so why not do it in the middle of the season? Next week's episode could easily end with a simple title card that says "One Year Later" so we can skip over Nathan's Spanish adventure.
Early RetirementSure, playing basketball is Nathan's dream, but obviously retirement is the cool new thing to do, since Clay and Dan both tried it. Maybe Nathan could say one season was enough and move on to be a stay-at-home dad, high school basketball coach, and maybe even run for mayor of Tree Hill.
Clay Saves the DayThis seems like the safe bet for what
One Tree Hill will do. With Quinn's help, Clay will magically find a way to get Nathan back into the NBA, becoming the ultimate hero and winning back his job as an agent. I only hope the writers avoid this cliche, overly sentimental choice.
Dan Kills AgainHow awesome would this be? The Bobcats just got a new player to replace Nathan, so what if Dan Scott tries to save the day by killing a basketball star to free up a spot on the roster for his son? It's ridiculous, over-the-top and completely insane, but then again, so is Dan Scott. Maybe that slap from Jimmy's mom did him some good.
So which option do you think is the best way to deal with the Barcelona offer, or is their another decision Nathan could make?
