Peyton asks Mick for some more info about her parents' love story, and he's still acting all vague about whether or not he's her father. I hope this mystery isn't dragged out for more episodes, because it's really not all that interesting. They bond some more by listing off their top five albums of all time, which is about as thrilling as watching paint dry. They both love Elvis Costello, so they must be related. She wants him to swing by later to meet Lucas and share more stories about her parents, because the ten thousand she's already heard just aren't enough.
Nathan (
James Lafferty) meets with Bobby from the NBA, who kind of looks like Aaron Eckhart's little brother. Bobby reveals that he wants Nathan to coach, not play, which quickly crushes Nate's hopes and dreams. Meanwhile, Haley gets a call at home from Nanny Carrie, who tricks her into coming to visit by using a really fake British accent. Apparently, Haley has never watched BBC America, because any moron could tell that Nanny Carrie is about as British as Madonna. She poses as a hospice nurse and tells Haley that Dan has gone off on his own to die, which Deb finds fishy. Dan doesn't do anything quietly, after all. Haley decides to take Jamie (
Jackson Brundage) to visit his grandpa on his death bed.
Lucas arrives in New York to see Lindsey, and though he tries to blurt out the marriage news, she just wants to get down to business. She hands him a copy of his new book, which is called
The Comet. I'm sad that the title is so simple, because it's not nearly as easy to make fun of as
An Unkindness of Ravens. Dammit Lucas, if you're going to be dull you can at least give me something to mock in the process. Peyton calls Mr. Scrubby Beard later and tells him she's convinced Mick is her father. You might think this would bring an emotion or two out of
Chad Michael Murray, but I think he's incapable of anything but brooding stoicism.
Lucas discovers that the Chicago date on his book tour will clash with his wedding, so he's forced to tell Lindsey about the big event. She's upset, but she feels slightly vindicated now that her theory about Lucas and Peyton has been proven. After she calms down and Lucas apologizes one more time, she agrees to get him out of the Chicago date so he can be with Peyton. They leave things on good terms, so now Michaela McManus can go off to
Law & Order: SVU and never be seen again.
