Nathan and Haley are madly in love after their one date together, because this is the 1940s and people still believed such things were possible. Their relationship will be torn apart by the war, while Lucas and Peyton's budding romance will be destroyed by Brooke. She visits Dan and tells him that she saw them kissing, which is information juicy enough to nearly pay off her debt. Dan only needs her to do one more thing for him.
While Julian roughs up Skills (
Antwon Tanner) and breaks his hand, Dan beats up Officer Owen, who's been refusing to take his bribes. Mouth tries to save the day, but only succeeds in getting knocked out and tied up by Julian. Mouth knows that Dan killed Keith, which is an accusation Peyton overhears when she arrives at the scene. Dan punches her in the face and tells her to go wait in the car, while Mouth gets pushed off a bridge in a fashionable pair of cement shoes.
When Peyton tells Lucas that Dan killed Keith, Lucas grabs his pistol and takes to the streets. He kills Julian in self-defense, then runs into Dan and Brooke. Dan asks Brooke to finish paying off her debt by killing the couple, but she turns her gun on him instead. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any bullets. Dan punches her and whips out another gun, only managing to get one shot off as Skills tackles him. The bullet hits Peyton in the gut, killing her instantly.
As
One Tree Hill wraps up, Nathan and Haley get married and sleep together before he ships off to the war. They even plan to name their kid Jamie if they ever get a chance to have one. Lucas cradles Peyton in his arms while Brooke and Dan watch on the sidelines. Back in 2008, Lucas wakes up when Peyton calls him on his cell phone. "Don't ever leave me," he begs her before hanging up. At that exact moment, Peyton collapses in agony, clutching her stomach. Is she pregnant with some sort of demon baby, or have I been watching too much
Fringe?
