Nathaniel Marston, who was born on July 9, 1975 in Sharon, Connecticut, first played Al Holden in One Life to Live in 2001 before returning to the show as Dr. Michael McBain. He also appeared as Eddie Silva on CBS' As the World Turns in 1998, earning him a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Male Newcomer. His other television appearances include Educating Matt Waters and Monday Night Mayhem. Marston's film credits include The Craft, Ordinary Sinner, Ciao America, and Love is All There Is.

Dr. Michael McBain is played by Nathaniel Marston in One Life to Live. The brother of Detective John McBain, Michael is an attending doctor at Llanview Hospital. On the night of Dr. Spencer Truman's murder, Rex Balsom ran into Michael in the hospital. This led Rex to believe that Michael was Spencer's murderer and was scheming to prevent Rex from revealing the paternity of TJ to Todd Manning. Eventually, the truth was uncovered that Michael was innocent.
