Fans of ABC's
One Life to Live have only until tomorrow to see
Nathaniel Marston on the soap, as the 32-year-old actor was terminated early this month.
In October, Marston, who plays Dr. Michael McBain on the daytime drama, was involved in an altercation in which he allegedly assaulted three people, including a police officer. Eyewitnesses claim that Marston went after three bystanders with a metal crate, while the arresting officer labeled him as an “emotionally disturbed person.” He is facing 11 different charges, and is scheduled to appear in criminal court in February.
When news of the incident broke out, many industry experts predicted Marston would be fired from
One Life to Live, and shortly thereafter, the show released a statement saying the actor had been “taken off the schedule” while they reviewed the case.
"Nathaniel Marston has been a valuable member of the cast of
One Life to Live bringing Michael McBain to life for legions of fans," a spokesperson said in a statement. "He leaves the show with our sincere appreciation for his many contributions and our support as he addresses personal challenges. We wish him well."
Marston then confirmed his firing through his official website.
“Now that ABC has officially commented, I can confirm that I have been let go from
One Life To Live,” Nathaniel Marston posted on his site. “I don't think of this as an ending, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Your support and encouragement have meant the world to me and have buoyed my spirits in a trying time. I know that my absence from the show will be a disappointment to many of you. All I can say is let the decision-makers at ABC know how you feel.”
He went on by thanking his co-workers who have reached out to him, and assured fans that his dismissal from
One Life to Live does not mean the end of his career.
“As you know, I did not start my career in soap operas, but in commercials, film and primetime television,” he said. “I will continue to pursue these avenues, as well as any other opportunities that come my way.”
Meanwhile, actor Chris Stack, who appeared in a few episodes of
As the World Turns, will take over the role of Michael beginning December 3. However, it is unclear whether Stack is on the show permanently or if the network is still looking to hire another actor for the role.
