After six years since he last appeared on General Hospital, A Martinez returns to daytime television. However, he won't be reprising his mobster- FBI informant role he once made famous.  This time, he'll be appearing One Life to Live in a newly created role that goes by the name of Ray Montez.

Though introduced to viewers as Cruz Castillo on Santa Barbara, Martinez became an even more popular household name when he was cast as Roy DiLucca on General Hospital from 1999 to 2002. During his stint on General Hospital, he was awarded three consecutive ALMA Awards from 2000 to 2002.  Additionally, he landed primetime gigs such as his starring roles on Profiler and L.A. Law.

Martinez landed a recurring role on CSI as Assemblyman Danilo Zamesca and also guest starred on Raines as Aurelio Sanchez and as Armando Castile on the short-lived series Viva Laughlin.  Most recently, he was cast in the upcoming TV movie, Little Girl Lost: The Delimar Vera Story, which is based on a true story of a woman, who believed her infant daughter, had perished in a fire only to find her six years later living with another family.

According to Soap Central, One Life to Live put out a casting call earlier this year for what sounded like plans for a new Latino family.  The casting of the former General Hospital actor comes just as the casting process for the initial call would be wrapping up.  As of this moment, there is no confirmation yet on any other performers that may have been added into the Llanview scene.

Meanwhile, fans of One Life to Live are speculating why the program would be adding a new Latino family into the canvas when the Vega family is still alive and well.  On the other hand, some sources hint that the new family could bring about resurgence in the storylines for the Vegas.
