Olympics 2012: Events on the Royal Family's Calendar
With the 2012 Olympics in full swing throughout London, the royals are each lending their full support to Team Great Britain! While it's hard for many of the royals to clear enough time on their schedules for having fun, the Olympics are a clear exception to their normal routine. London is hosting one of the most spectacular Olympic Games in modern history and having a blast in the process. In fact, it's so much fun that members of the royal family are popping up everywhere.

William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry are all official Olympic ambassadors to Team Britain. They will be attending many of the Olympic Games during the next two weeks. Some of the events they are scheduled to attend are hockey, gymnastics, volleyball, diving, synchronized swimming and sailing. Their spokespeople stressed that their attendance to each scheduled event is provisional, however. Hey, even the royal family has to take an Olympic break every now and then! We can only hope there won't be a small child who's just dying to get a glimpse of Prince Harry...only to find out he or she has to settle for their Royal Highnesses Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands. What a let down!

Moving on, Prince Harry will attend the 10-meter diving event on Monday; then on August 2, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will sit in the "royals only" box as they attend a tennis match at Wimbledon. They will also attend swimming events on August 3 at the Olympic Park. Each appearance will be scheduled around lots of other stops, visiting athletes and other media opportunities through the day.

The royal family has an emotional attachment to the Olympics. In the 1976 Olympic Games, Princess Anne was a participant. In addition, Zara Phillips is Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter and she qualified for the British equestrian team for eventing, which began on Saturday in Greenwich Park. While one would assume the queen would attend her granddaughter's equestrian events, she may be too busy jumping out of planes with 007.
