Tom Berenger Biography:

Tom Berenger was born on May 31, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised by an Irish Catholic family and is a graduate of the University of Missouri, where he majored in journalism. After completing his studies, he took a totally different career path and decided to pursue a career in acting by starting as a thespian in regional theatre. When he moved to New York City, he landed a major role on the soap opera, One Life to Live. His first film appearance was on the indie flick Rush It, and his other movie projects include Looking for Mr.Goodbar, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Big Chill, Sniper and Gettysburg, which Berenger cites as his favorite. His work in Platoon earned him an Academy Award nomination. One of his most memorable television roles was for the small screen adaptation of Stephen King’s Nightmares and Dreamscapes. His current television role is for the ABC drama series, October Road.

The Commander is played by Tom Berenger on the series October Road. The Commander is Nick’s stern but warmhearted father. He is a widower, and when Nick comes back to October Road, he opens the house doors and welcomes Nick back into his life.
