De Niro and Scorsese Back Together
De Niro and Scorsese Back Together
Taxi Driver.  Raging Bull.  Goodfellas.  Casino.  These are the four big collaborations between director Martin Scorsese and actor Robert De Niro.  Goodfellas and Casino are two hall-of-fame mob movies.  It is impossible to speak about modern cinema without bringing up the names of Scorsese and De Niro.  As we hit the twilights of both of their careers, it's good news like this that can put a hop in any cineastes step: Scorsese and De Niro are teaming up one more time for one more gangster movie.  Steve Zaillan has written a script based on a book by Charles Brandt called “I Heard You Paint Houses.”  The non-fiction book is about Frank Sheeran, a mob assassin who was reportedly responsible for the deaths of more than 25 people, including, possibly, Jimmy Hoffa.

Although Scorsese is attached to direct, his schedule may prove too busy.  He's got a number of projects in the pipeline, but you have to imagine that he'd make time for one more gangster movie with his old pal De Niro.  De Niro could also use an appearance in a really good movie, considering the lengthy dry spell he currently finds himself in.
