A scene from the first season ender of Notes from the UnderbellyThe ABC comedy Notes from the Underbelly is returning for its second season tonight with a hilarious premiere episode entitled, “She's Gotta Have It.”

For those who want to peek into the season premiere, as well as find out what's going to happen to one of the show's lead characters this season, read on for some spoilers.

According to the network, the new season of Notes from the Underbelly opens with Andrew (Peter Cambor) trying to become more assertive upon realizing that he just might be a pushover.  His newfound confidence proves to be a big turn-on for Lauren (Jennifer Westfeldt), but things take a different turn when Andrew starts embracing his opinions a little bit too much, to the point where their delicate relationship is threatened.

Meanwhile, Eric (Sunkrish Bala) and Julie (Melanie Paxson) employ a nanny who refuses to tell them how she manages to instantly calm baby Perry.

As for Danny (Michael Weaver) and Cooper (Rachael Harris), they accidentally find themselves on a date when he starts cooking for her in return for her legal aid.

“She's Gotta Have It” was penned by Shera Zeltzer Goldman and directed by Barnet Kellman.

While ABC's Notes from the Underbelly started out as a comedy about expecting parents who receive advice from even the most unexpected and unwanted places, the show will be taking a slightly new direction this season when Westfeldt's Lauren finally gives birth to not one, not two, but three babies.

The plot turn has meant a welcome adjustment for the 37-year-old actress, who has gone from wearing a “nine-month fat suit” she sported while playing an expecting Lauren, to working with triplets who play her new babies.

"They're so adorable," she said of her infant costars.  "They've been kind of incredible to work with. It kind of brings a little bit of magic to the experience."

Catch the second season premiere of Notes from the Underbelly tonight at 9:30/8:30c on ABC.
