FX has finally set return dates for two of its most promising scripted drama series.
Nip/Tuck, the dark medical drama that revolves around two business partners who run an overwhelmingly successful plastic surgery practice, is set to resume its fifth season beginning on Tuesday, January 6 at 10pm. Subsequently, the second season of
Damages is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, January 7 at 10pm.
Earlier this season, the two doctors departed Miami for Los Angeles seeking a fresh start for McNamara/Troy in a new city. The drama came to a temporary close as Sean (
Dylan Walsh) feared for his life when Colleen Rose escaped from the psych ward and threatened to kill him, Christian (
Julian McMahon) reunited with an old flame, and Matt (
John Hensley) tried to come to terms with sleeping with his own sister. Julia (
Joely Richardson), on the other hand, was rushed to the hospital following the shooting.
It's been 10 months since we last saw
Nip/Tuck and as season 5 continues, Sean will try to re-build his life after surviving a brutal attack from Colleen. Furthermore, McNamara/Troy faces an unexpected, serious medical crisis, Christian decides to settle down with one woman and Sean discovers a new love in a moment of extreme vulnerability.
Joining the cast of
Nip/Tuck this season are Sharon Gless, Portia de Rossi, AnnaLynne McCord, Bradley Cooper, John Schneider, Jennifer Coolidge, Morgan Fairchild and Katee Sackoff.
As for
Damages, the legal drama comes fresh off its Emmy wins for Outstanding Lead Actress (
Glenn Close) and Outstanding Supporting Actor (
Zeljko Ivanek). Season 2 picks up just as Patty Hewes (Close) is figuring out her next move after her unprecedented victory over billionaire Arthur Frobisher (
Ted Danson). The legal world seems to be at her feet but a new legal challenge ensues when a man from Patty's mysterious past storms back into her life.
