FOX has pledged its commitment to an upcoming series called
Queen B, a female workplace drama from Ryan Murphy, creator of FX's hit series,
Nip/Tuck.
The project, with Murphy co-created with
Nip/Tuck executive producers Richard Levine and Lyn Greene, revolves around an intelligent but ruthless woman who becomes the CEO of a global corporation and corrupts a young girl with power by making her the executive's right-hand woman.
At this time, no talent has signed on to do the series, although it is being reported that several high-profile actresses over the age of 40 has expressed interest in the show.
Murphy, Levine and Greene will serve as writers and executive producers.
Queen B reunites Murphy with FOX entertainment president Kevin Reilly and chairman Peter Ligouri. Reilly and Ligouri developed Murphy's
Nip/Tuck during their turn as FX's entertainment president and CEO, respectively.
Aside from
Queen B, Murphy, is also working on an untitled drama series, which he co-created with
Nip/Tuck writer Brad Falchuck. FX greenlit the show's pilot episode and picked up three episode scripts last month. The show, which will be executive-produced by Murphy, Dede Gardner and Brad Pitt, is centered on the metamorphosis of a married man with children who realizes he is a transsexual.
As for
Nip/Tuck, the Emmy award-winning series about two plastic surgeons is premiering its fifth season on October 30. Guest stars who are slated to appear are Rosie O'Donnell, Oliver Platt, Lauren Hutton, Paula Marshall and Portia de Rossi, who will play Julia McNamara's (
Joely Richardson) lesbian lover.
Known for its sexually-driven storylines,
Nip/Tuck promises to deliver more heat in the upcoming season. Word has it that Richardson and de Rossi's steamy love scenes have even shocked crew members who have long been exposed to the show's sexuality.
Additionally, series star
Julian McMahon has been quite vocal about making the show racier, saying earlier this month, "I don't think this show is kinky enough, so I'm kind of trying to push for that kind of stuff consistently.”
