Nip/Tuck creator, Ryan Murphy is a busy man these days with one popular drama already on the air and two more in the works. We previously reported a month and a half ago that Murphy is elbow deep in his as yet untitled new project for
Nip/Tuck's carrier network, FX. Last week, we also mentioned that Murphy has received the support of another network, FOX, for his other new endeavor,
Queen B, which he co-created with fellow
Nip/Tuck executive producers, Lyn Greene and Richard Levine.
This week, we have additional details on the series initially titled
4 Oz., as well as some guest casting news for Murphy's flagship
Nip/Tuck series.
Veteran actors Robert Wagner and Blythe Danner will headline Murphy's new series along with younger talent, Joseph Fiennes. The show, which was originally called
4 Oz. in reference to the supposed average weight of a human penis, will feature Fiennes in the lead role as a married man with two sons, who realizes his true orientation and eventually transforms into a woman.
Fiennes is best known for his work on simultaneous period pieces,
Shakespeare in Love and
Elizabeth as well as the wartime film,
Enemy at the Gates. In the upcoming show that used to be known as
4 Oz., Wagner and Danner will play his parents even as other parts in the project continue to be filled in before production gets underway sometime this month. FX has already ordered three additional scripts aside from the pilot for the new series.
Meanwhile, in
Nip/Tuck news,
Sharon Gless of
Cagney and Lacey fame, who recently made a strong return to television via
Burn Notice, will be the latest in a string of recognizable females to grace the sexually charged medical series. Gless is scheduled to appear in a four-episode arc where she will essay the role of Colleen Rose, a talent manager intent on signing Sean, played by
Dylan Walsh.
Other big name actresses slated to make
Nip/Tuck's fifth season raunchier and more titillating are former Ford model-turned actress, Lauren Hutton, pop/rock icon, Madonna,
Arrested Development's
Portia de Rossi,
Legally Blonde and
American Pie's Jennifer Coolidge,
Cheaper by the Dozen's Paula Marshall and
Relic Hunter's Tia Carrere.
Nip/Tuck returns to FX October 30.
