'Nikita' Recap: Turncoat
'Nikita' Recap: Turncoat
On tonight's mid-season finale of Nikita, Nikita (Maggie Q) goes to Owen (Devon Sawa) for help in finding another black box, and Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) makes her move against Sergei Semak.

Together Again

Nikita finds Owen, but is not pleased to learn that he is working with Gogol and Ari Tasarov. Owen explains that he is only using Gogol for their resources in order to find the black boxes, which is exactly why Nikita has contacted Owen. They agree to work together to find one of the black boxes through a Guardian Owen has been tracking.

Nikita realizes that the tech guys at Gogol could trace the Guardian through his shipments of the regimen and Owen goes to Gogol with the plan. But, as Nikita feared, Ari betrays Owen and Owen becomes a hostage.

Word Games

Amanda (Melinda Clarke) is furious when she learns that Percy (Xander Berkeley) encouraged Alex to go after Sergei Semak on her own. Percy's actions have ruined Amanda's plans and Amanda knows Percy is pleased about that.

What Amanda does not know is that Percy has activated the secondary Guardian protocol and is communicating with the Guardian that Owen is tracking. Amanda also does not know why Percy sent Alex after Semak in the first place.

A Strange Homecoming

Throughout her journey, Alex has flashbacks that reveal how close Semak was to Alex's father and that he thought of Sergei as family, something that must make Semak's betrayal all the more heartbreaking. When Alex arrives at her old childhood home, she accidentally trips a security measure, but is able to cover her tracks.

Unfortunately, Alex is injured, but she quickly recovers and breaks into her old house with practiced ease, one step closer to killing Semak.

The Wrong Side

Thanks to a tip-off from Owen, Nikita finds the Guardian and actually gets ahold of the black box. Of course that is when the police show up and Nikita and the Guardian are taken into custody. The Gogol goons provide a distraction so Ari can acquire the black box from the police and Ari then orders his men to eliminate both Owen and Nikita.

Luckily, Owen called in assistance before he was captured and Michael (Shane West) comes to his friends' rescue. But Michael and Nikita only get a moment to talk because the Guardian has escaped and Ari is taking the black box to Sergei Semak.

One Final Revelation

Nikita tells Michael and Owen that they need to split up to handle all the threats. She sends them after the Guardian, who they now know is working under orders from Percy, while she follows Ari and the black box. Michael hesitates to part from her so soon, but it is the only option. Meanwhile, Alex finally makes her way into her childhood home and gets one heck of a homecoming present -- she finds her mother, alive and well. Exactly as Percy planned.

Now that Michael has returned, has he made a choice regarding his continued presence in his son's life? What will that mean for Nikita? What does Percy have planned for the Guardians, and will Owen somehow become involved as well? And how did Alex's mother survive the original attack on their family? What does it mean that she is living in the same house as Sergei Semak? Is it possible that Semak is not the monster Alex believes him to be, or did her mother betray their family, as well?

The truth will be revealed (and our questions will hopefully be answered) when Nikita returns with brand new episodes on January 6.
