American teenager Grant Newman appears as a supporting cast member of the MTV reality television series Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County. He was born in 1990, and was a junior during the time that the series was filmed. The resident class clown and joker, Grant is described as the one guy truly ruling the school, and is very well-liked for the parties he throws and for being everyone’s favorite source of entertainment. With his varied antics and the jokes he cracks, he keeps all of his friends grinning and laughing while living up to his moniker of G-ball, or Goofball.

Most of the time, Grant has been happy to stay away from serious relationships, listening instead to his childhood friend Chrissy and his pal Clay and trying to help them with their own feelings. However, he has also found himself pitted against his former childhood buddy Chase for the affection of Taylor, who is constantly flits between their on-again and off-again flings. Grant is also in the process of trying to change his bad boy ways after being made to spend one summer at military school, and is attempting to think ahead to his future beyond Newport Harbor.
