Alexie Gilmore, star of the forthcoming FOX drama series
New Amsterdam, will be appearing in the new romantic comedy,
Definitely, Maybe, next year. The film revolves around a political consultant who tries his best to explain his impending divorce and past relationships to his 10-year-old daughter.
Aside from Gilmore, who plays Olivia in the movie, the cast of
Definitely, Maybe also includes Ryan Reynolds as Will Hayes, Elizabeth Banks (
Scrubs) as Emily, Rachel Weisz as Summer Hartley, Abigail Breslin as Maya, Kevin Kline as Hampton Roth, Derek Luke as Russell McCormack and Isla Fisher as April.
Definitely, Maybe is written and directed by Adam Brooks (
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Wimbledon, Practical Magic), and produced by Working Title Films. Liza Chasin and Bobby Cohen are credited as executive producers. Domestic distribution of the film will be handled by Universal Pictures.
The movie is scheduled for release on Valentine's day, just a little over a week before Alexie Gilmore's new television series,
New Amsterdam, premieres on the FOX network.
New Amsterdam revolves around John Amsterdam (
Nikolaj Coster Waldau), an immortal homicide detective in New York. Back in 1642, Amsterdam was a Dutch soldier who stepped in front of a sword to save the life of a Native American girl whose tribe was being massacred. In return, the girl cast an ancient spell on Amsterdam, making him immortal. He will only be able to regain his mortality when he finds his one true love.
On the series, Alexie Gilmore plays Sara Dillane, the doctor who pronounces Amsterdam's death after a massive heart attack.
The show also stars
Zuleikha Robinson and
Stephen Henderson.
Although Gilmore has been working professionally since 2000,
New Amsterdam marks her first starring role in television. Her previous acting credits include guest-starring roles on such shows as
Rescue Me, Conviction, Hope & Faith and
Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
New Amsterdam premieres Friday, February 22, at 9pm on FOX.
